Chemical cleaning is next to thermal cleaning the most known technique of industrial cleaning. This is especially because of the excellent results and the minimum of damage risks for the materials. A lot of different industries use this kind of technique. For example, the furniture industry, the automotive industry and the powder-coat industry. The cleaning process also has different methods. The most common method is the dipping method by which materials are dipped in a chemical bath and left to soak for a while. These baths are filled with a chemical liquor which leads to a corrosive process. Another method is to clean with a spray-technique. Chemical cleaning also has some important disadvantages and a lot of companies switch to thermal cleaning, which holds almost no disadvantages.

Location
The chemical cleaning process usually takes places in a bath. These baths exists in several volumes depending the activity of the user. The baths itself are made of stainless steel. The materials are being dipped in a heated bath (95°C) and afterwards they are being soaked inside the bath. This makes sure the coating layer is removed. After the soaking, the materials are being washed off with hot water so the last pieces of coating are being removed. At the end, the materials are dried and are ready for re-use. The waste water is being collected in a separate chamber and has to be drained off by specialized firms.

Advantages
The big advantages of chemical cleaning is the price. Depending on the quantity and size of the material, there is no need to make big investments. The spraying technique is faster, but the result is the same. This cleaning method is a reliable method. It contains a lot of possibilities to clean different kinds of metals.

Disadvantages
In spite of the important advantages, there are also a few disadvantages you have to keep an eye on. The most important disadvantage is the inefficiency with the paint stripping of hollow materials and thick layers of coating, unlike thermal cleaning. Also the process isn’t environmentally friendly. A large environmental awareness by the user is needed. The large amount of chemical liquors cause this so they have to be used and drained off with a big responsibility for the user.
The next big disadvantage is the damaging of the materials, especially with the use of acids. Unlike with thermal cleaning, the durability of these materials is a lot less. With thermal cleaning, the materials are being saved a lot longer and there is no drainage of chemical substances at all.
